DaREN'S STORY

"I feel like I was a noble person. Then I became a bitter person." When Daren first visited MiddleTree, he had some cynical views of church community. Although he enjoyed the "small togetherness" and the racial diversity of MiddleTree, he realizes now that he spent his first few months in attendance just bracing himself for the moment things would take a turn for the worse. So he took some time away with the goal of resolving concerns that were weighing heavy on him.

A few months later, when Daren returned to MiddleTree, he intentionally left his negativity behind. "I'm getting back to the person I was. I'm not there yet, but I'm getting there." Although Daren is still finding healing for wounds from his past, God has shown him several ways his experiences have shaped his character in positive ways.

"I am humbler now, less judgmental, I gossip less. I look at things differently." Daren is focused on praying that God would help him continue to develop greater discipline in his life and personal habits. Lately, Daren also feels compelled to find ways to give back and become more involved in service activities. Like most of us, Daren hopes that some day God's master plan will become a little clearer to him. But, in the meantime he is finding the courage to take one step at a time toward becoming the man he knows God created him to be.
